Hybrid Network Traffic Engineering System (HNTES) 2.0 Design Document

چکیده
We start with a big picture illustration of what role HNTES would play if deployed by those providers who offer both IP-routed and circuit services. In the example shown in Figure 1, the "DOE Lab I" network and ESnet are shown as offering both IP-routed and circuit services, while the "DOE Lab II," "Other provider" and "University" networks only offer IProuted services. This reflects current-day reality. An IDC, which offers circuit scheduling, provisioning and release functionality, and a HNTES system are shown as being deployed in DOE Lab I and ESnet.

Hybrid Network Traffic Engineering Software (HNTES)
This document defines the purpose of the Hybrid Network Traffic Engineering Software (HNTES) system, lists its functional requirements, and describes its high-level architecture. This is a revised version of the HYbrid Network Engineering Software (HYNES) document, dated Dec. 30, 2010. The software has been renamed to better reflect its purpose as a traffic engineering solution.
متن کاملTraffic Engineering and Characterization of High-Rate Large-Sized Flows
High-rate large-sized (α) flows have adverse effects on delay-sensitive flows. Research-andeducation network providers are interested in identifying such flows within their networks, and directing these flows to virtual circuits. To achieve this goal, a design is proposed for a hybrid network traffic engineering system (HNTES) that would run on an external server, gather NetFlow records from ro...
متن کاملOn How to Provision Virtual Circuits for Network-Redirected Large-Sized, High-Rate Flows
To reduce the impact of large-sized, high-rate (α) transfers on real-time flows, a Hybrid Network Traffic Engineering System (HNTES) was proposed in earlier work. HNTES is an intra-domain solution that enables the automatic identification of α flows at a provider network’s ingress routers, and redirects these flows to traffic-engineered QoS-controlled virtual circuits. The purpose of this work ...
متن کاملProgress Report
The goals for the first quarter in the timeline defined in the proposal were to run experiments on ESnet and ANI testbed to capture control-connection packets for file transfer applications, and to design new online flow detection algorithms. Both these activities were planned for the first proposed work item, which is to design new online flow detection algorithms because the Hybrid Network Tr...
